About the Journal

Phthisiopulmonology is a peer-reviewed scientific and practical journal established in 2001. The founder is the National Scientific Center of Phthisiopulmonology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, and other contributions in the fields of phthisiopulmonology, respiratory medicine, related medical specialties, healthcare organization, and medical education. Since its inception, the journal has provided an academic platform for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, exchange of clinical experience, and advancement of evidence-based practices.

With the implementation of the *Digital Kazakhstan* program, the electronic version of the journal enables healthcare professionals and researchers to access publications, share opinions, and contribute to the development of medical science and education.

Mission Statement

The mission of Phthisiopulmonology is to advance research and practice in tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, strengthen international scientific collaboration, and contribute to the development of healthcare and higher medical education.

Article Types

The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

Original Research Articles – novel clinical, experimental, or public health studies.

Review Articles – comprehensive, critical analyses of current knowledge.

Case Reports – detailed descriptions of unique or rare clinical cases.

Short Communications – brief reports of new findings or preliminary data.

Editorials and Commentaries – invited perspectives on topical issues.

Open Access Policy

The journal follows a full open access policy. All content is freely available online immediately upon publication. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, and print full texts without restrictions, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

Transparency is ensured by providing information on the publisher, editorial board, peer review policy, and publication guidelines on the journal’s website.

Peer Review Policy

All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.

Initial screening is carried out by the Editor-in-Chief within three days of submission.

External review is performed by independent experts with academic degrees and recent publications in the relevant field.

Confidentiality is strictly maintained. Reviewers do not know the authors’ identities, and authors are not informed of reviewers’ names.

Decisions are based on scientific merit, originality, relevance, and compliance with ethical and legal standards.

Manuscripts requiring revision are returned to authors with reviewer comments. Revised submissions are re-evaluated. Articles that do not meet the journal’s requirements are rejected.

Publication Ethics

The journal adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the WMA Declaration of Helsinki, the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and international best practices.

All participants in the publication process — authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher — are expected to uphold ethical standards. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, falsification, duplicate submission, or any form of research misconduct.

Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern are published when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.

Scientific article up to 10 pages (Times New Roman, 14 pt, 1.5 spacing): 25,000 KZT (incl. VAT)

Each additional page: 3,000 KZT (incl. VAT)

Advertising

Rates and formats for advertising in the journal and on the website are available upon request from the Editorial Office. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy of submitted materials.

Payment Terms

Fees are payable in Kazakhstani tenge (KZT). Invoices are issued after manuscript acceptance. All payments are non-refundable.
